Well, the L.A. Times blog that is. Could the paper edition be next?
Here's their blog entry, if you're too lazy to click above and scroll down to 2-13-08:
"Pomona far afield
5:01 PM, February 13, 2008
Hard to believe when you're stalled on the 60 Freeway, but Pomona gets its name from the Roman goddess of fruit and gardens. Still, the well-named blog, Goddess of Pomona, has managed to stumble across the city’s namesake in some surprising places.
Not only does Pomona appear where you'd expect, like in the local city library, she's outside the landmark Plaza Hotel in Manhattan, and in the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Mich.
All this national goddess worship has had an added benefit: getting local residents excited about replacing Pomona's missing sword in a local city park.
