Curley's Keyshop

This week's featured Pomona business is Curley's Keyshop, located at the corner of Palomares and Monterey. Not only does the place look cool, in a frozen-in-time kind of way, but it's hands down the best place to have a key made. They even sell old fashioned keys for the locks found in historic homes. I have found their service to always include a smile and a friendly word.
The couple who used to own our home went through one of the more tumultuous relationships and notorious divorces in Pomona. As a result of a lot of fights and slammed doors in the past, we have had to have lots of work done on our front and back door locks. Not to mention that our back door lock was being held together by superglue from some handyman's prior repair job...
Curley's Key Shop is named after the original owner, whose nickname was Curley. The shop has been passed down two generations. Not sure why Curley was called Curley, as no one I've asked at the shop has ever known.

before curlys was there ,a house sat there on the corner of monterey and palomares.and between center st. and monterey on both sides of palomares were lined with trees like the ones you see further up palomares.thanks to our city as you can see they no longer provide us with clean air.

Hey uncle rich....
you would be the person to ask this....what about the building on the corner of monterey and i dont know what street that was...it was the one before palomares...it led to around the corner to the blue seal ...speaking of which i used to think that there really was a blue seal and i would beg grandma or grandpa to take me to see it LOL....anyway there was an office building with these long windows and I used to ride my tricycle up to the window, and someone sitting at the desk would always wave at me...I loved it! Oh I got a funny memory by the way....in front of grandmas house I remember there was this man waling by and I ran out to him screaming "daddy"...it was back in those days of mine as a tot where i guess i was a little confused and had memories of Allen...I do remember grandma apologizing to the man, and my mom was the most embarrassed woman on the face of the earth omg! I will always remember that for as long as I live, and I was pretty small!
