Think Global, Blog Local

While outsiders to Pomona like to count our homicides, I prefer to count our blogs. The Pomona Blog Epidemic of 2008 is upon us. As I have had to turn my attention away from my own blog, others have been lighting up Pomona's information alleyways with their own blogs. Pomona has 14 blogs by my count. I've added a new blog roll to my side bar which includes them all, in order of most recent post. As there is likely someone firing up a new Pomona blog as I type, please forgive me if my list is already out of date.

Ugly Stepsister Claremont is pathetically behind the ball on this one, having only four blogs that I know of (Sid's Side, Claremont Insider and two coming out of the Claremont Colleges). I'm sure they'll correct me if I'm wrong. Ontario has one blog that I know of: the Ontario Emperor A.K.A. the hipper Mr. Ontemps. (Sorry, blogger's link feature isn't working, otherwise I'd redirect you to those blogs.) I know of no blogs out of San Dimas, La Verne or Chino Hills, nor have I yet to see a Phillips Rancher or Rancherita blog.

Recently I discovered that Pomona, CA.'s sister city of Pomona, MO. (whose watertower is today's photograph), also has a blog. You'll have to get there yourself:
http://www.pomonapost.wordpress.com/

Check out the Pomona Posts' entries entitled "Town Pride or Arrogance" and "Watertower Serves as Strong Reminder," which show that Pomona, MO. shares both Pomona, CA.'s name and our fabled inferiority complex.

THE END
And here is the rest of it.

Wow, thanks for the update Goddess, I wonder when we're all going to come together and develop our own "Pomona Weekly" hard copy newspaper for those that are blog illiterate.

Actually you missed the Daily Bull's "official" Pomona blog, PomonaNow, written by Monica Rodriguez. Link is http://www.insidesocal.com/pomonanow/.

Well, Anduhrew, if Ren has anything to do with it: soon!

I am so thrilled to see that your blog (and several others) exists. A couple of years ago when I had become completely disgusted with certain areas of neglect in Pomona - I did start a blog "Pomona's Walk of Shame". Took a while, and many phone calls...but some things finally got done. Unfortunately, very few were interested and the blog fell by the now "much cleaner" wayside. So kuddos to you!! And in your search for the better Manhattan in Pomona, might I suggest the bar at the Sheraton Fairplex. Dave and Wayne have been trained well. Cheers!

Pomona Now? Do we really look at the DB's latest effort in the same category as amateur blogs. David Allen's I can understand, but Pomona Now? How is Pomona Now different than the DB? No editing?.....with all the newspaper budget cuts can't we place the rest of the DB and LA Times in the same category?

Just my amateur opinion.

LOL Ed, I was just talking to DAvid about that at the Chalk ARt festival. I don't think it does qualify, in the end, because there's no personal opinion on it. Well we still have 15, now that OH Pomona has fired up her blog. If you want to nitpick, Ed, both David's blog and Route 66 are wobblers, in that they encompass more than Pomona, but in the end that's where their heart is, so they made the cut.

Actually I was being somewhat facetious about PomonaNow, which is why I put official in quotes.

However, since the DB seems to be hiding Pomona news these days, at least we have a handy way to see Monica's articles without having to wade through the Bull's full web site.

Ren, If you need help on a printed weekly, let me know.

Count me in on a Printed weekly. Solely as a contributor though, with my schedule any more and my grades would start failing.

I love each and everyone of the blogs on my list!
Each one seems to have its own niche and purpose.
We decided to start our blog while having dinner at Sakura Ichi a couple of months. We were discussing
with Leo the owner, about how we didn't feel that our voice was being heard on matters like how we as residents and business owners feel about touchy subjects like The Glass house and Bars that are our neighbors and how they affect our downtown area...they are great for us, by the way, they brings so many customers to us. Keeps things edgy and interesting too!

Our goal ( Pomona's art colonists ) is to inform you on what is going on in the Arts Colony and what the artist are up to, where they are showing their art and special projects that they are working on inside and outside of the community.
Our hometown heros!
We also like to review or local galleries, restaurants, pubs and stores..
We also love sharing photos of our local characters.
I think that blogging is telling the real story about things that matter to us and I love reading opinions of others about what is on their minds!
The more the merrier!

Hi Goddess!

Check out the Daily Bulletin online. There is an article about Thelma Melendez de Santa Ana being honored as Superintendent of the year for California. She is being nominated for the National award. Wow!

I don't know if I'm really writing a Claremont blog or whatever. Yeah, a lot of my content comes from Claremont, and I grew up there, but I've got strong ties to Pomona and I live in Upland, and I try to mix it up. It's great to read about what's happening around our home towns...

I'm just now appreciating what a wonderful blessing Foothill Cities was and wondering if there's anything we could do to revive it.
For some reason I get the impression that the author may have shut it down under pressure at work- hope I'm wrong
