Pomona Circa 1910 or 2007?

This photograph is of the south side of the 300 Block of Pasadena Street in Pomona. If you geussed 2007, you're wrong! These five vintage-looking homes are brand spanking new, and on the market from the high fives to the low sixes. The homes consist of two craftsmen, one spanish, a victorian and a colonial. Pasadena is the southern-most street of the Lincoln Park Historic District. Pasadena Street also has the problematic distinction of being a block away from the almost folkloricly colorful Holt Avenue.

The north/other side of Pasadena Street from these new homes is a typical Lincoln Park cluster of vintage craftsmen and victorian homes. There is a queen anne victorian in particular that is phenomenal. Further down on the south side of the street tho is the entrance, exit and parking lot for the Wells Fargo Bank and the parking lot for Osuna Mexican Resturant. So these new homes will go a long way towards making the street a whole lot more residential, and rounding out the neighborhood.

Personally, I would have voted for making all the new homes in the same style, preferrably craftsmen, even tho there are homes of all these styles in Lincoln Park, I just think it would have looked even more vintage. But hurray for some new building that actually fits into an existing neighborhood. I'm told that these homes even have "historic" features on the inside too. END OF POST.

Yeah, I was driving by those houses the other day (on my way to the Garden) and admired them. I also thought, "I should blog that," but you've taken care of that for me ;-)

I think it's a fantastic idea. Sure looks better than the stucco generic homes of today.

from a long time resident...that's a bizarre spot to build those houses. I suppose the new owners will not know the history (and sadly enough, some of the current goings-on) of that corner. I hope those lovely houses change the atmosphere there!
